DescriptionDear Parents/Guardians,
As you may have heard, AP Human Geography students will be participating in an urban field study in St. Paul and Minneapolis on Thursday, October 16th from 10:00 am until 4:45pm. We feel that this will be a fantastic opportunity for our students to apply what they have learned in class, as well as enriching their knowledge of the urban fabric that exists in our own backyard. This urban field study’s activities are aligned with Minnesota and AP standards in Geography.
The trip will begin at the Fridley NorthStar train station at 10:00 am where students will take a bus to downtown St. Paul. From there, we will be proceeding along the Green Line LRT with stops at Midway, the University of Minnesota, Nicollet Mall, and Target Field. Students will be taking the NorthStar train back to the Fridley Northstar station, arriving around 4:45. Students are responsible for their own lunch on the East Bank of the U of M campus which has a wide variety of restaurants.
We are looking for parent chaperones to help with the trip. If you would like to join us, please make sure to select that you can volunteer when you check out.
Cost of the trip is $15, broken down as follows:
- NorthStar train ticket: $3.25
- All-Day Light rail pass: $5
- School bus to St. Paul: $6.75
We hope your student can join us, but we understand that holding a field trip on a day off school presents inherent scheduling conflicts. To that end we will offer a make-up assignment after the field study for those students who cannot attend. In addition, we are looking for chaperones and would love for you to join us on this trip!
Sincerely, your AP Human Geography Teachers,
Aaron Oseland and Scott Oberg
